Our Story
I grew up in Lake Tapps about 45 minutes south of Seattle. I was introduced to golf when my family moved into our house in the 2nd grade. My love for the game started with some rocks and a few junker clubs our dad let my brother and I use. We eventually got some grass in the backyard and I learned to hit real balls from one corner of the yard to the next. I was hooked.
As I got older my grandma and grandpa would bring buckets of used balls they picked up at garage sales for me to hit into the woods behind the house. Those would eventually run out and we'd head down to Sumner Meadows for $5 twilight rounds and range sessions. I took my first lessons when I was about 12 at a local course called Tapps Island. I live 5 minutes from that same course today.
I started playing in WJGA tournaments around that same time and continued my love for competition into high school golf. It was in this period of my life that the real bug hit and I couldn't get enough of all things golf and Tiger Woods. Custom head covers, paint fills, stamping, you name it, I loved it.
In some unfortunate circumstances I grew about 6 inches the summer after graduating high school and my golf swing disappeared. I ended up taking a small break until adult beverages became legal and those could be coupled with golfing. We were back!
Fast forward 20 years later and I still have an absolute love for the game with a newfound passion to bring my creative ideas to life and share them with you all. The name "WillyMade" pays homage to the man who brought me into this game and I still get to play with year-round; My Dad (AKA Willy).
We hope you love WillyMade as much as we do and enjoy our products for years to come.
